Many people have high blood pressure and can go for years without knowing they have the life-threatening disease. Nearly one out of three American adults (68 million) has high blood pressure. What’s Happening February? February is “Heart Health” Month
While every adult should be checked for heart health, women in particular need to focus on this issue. Burlington stores and WomenHeart have partnered together in support of this initiative. The Heart of Fitness Tour hits 10 National Locations. Join us! Stop by say hello I’ll be at 5 of the 10 locations. Se habla Español y Material en Español.
Reaching the more than 43 million women who are living with or at risk for heart disease is WomenHeart’s objective. Meet and Greet your very own National WomenHeart Champions.
There are over 600 of us. We are women with heart disease who have been trained to share our stories and important messages about heart health to empower women to take charge of our heart health.
Why at a Shopping Center? Shopping is one of the top ten ways women spend their time.
That’s where WomenHeart’s partnership with Burlington comes in! What better way to share potentially lifesaving heart health information with the most women possible than when they are shopping? This has been a formula for success for WomenHeart, who has partnered with Burlington stores for the past four years on nationwide educational outreach activities during February, American Heart Month, as well as the month of March.
Burlington Presenting the 2015 Heart of Fitness Tour
This year, WomenHeart and Burlington will once again join together to present a new Heart of Fitness Tour, an educational outreach initiative designed to reach women in ten cities across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico.

My HeartStory…
Leticia is a marathon aficionado, advocate, industrial/organizational psychologist, and caregiver. Mom a pacemaker survivor after Type2 Diabetes damaged her heart and dad passed from a Heat Stroke that led to a massive heart attack. She was inspired to share their family’s story and founded ÁmateAhora, Voices for Health. She reached out to WomenHeart. Thanks to WomenHeart, insisting she see a Cardiologist, they saved her life. Fall 2014 she was first detected with a Heart Murmur, later diagnosed with Valvular Regurgitation aka “Leaky Valves”. It’s a condition where the valves don’t close properly making her heart work harder.
Knowing is Not Enough…
Thought she was protected from heart disease, due to her healthy lifestyle, but quickly learned that every woman is at risk. Leticia urges you to be your family’s Heart Health Champion. She shares, “There comes great peace and power in coming to terms with your health and being proactive. ÁmateAhora, LoveYouNow, Tomorrow May Be Too Late.”
