Obesity rates remain very high, putting Americans at risk for a range of health problems and adding a major burden to national healthcare costs. And, if we don’t act now, this generation of children may be the first in U.S. history to live sicker and die younger than their parents. Latino adult obesity rates have gone up by 10 percentage points since 2002- The State of Obesity a project for the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Along with potentially serious health problems, obesity also carries with it the burden of being the last acceptable form of discrimination in today’s society. Because of this, Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is calling on Amazon Inc., Apple Inc., Google Inc. and the Microsoft Corporation to take the following actions:
Remove all applications perpetuating fat-shaming
Modify application review guidelines to exclude the approval of any application perpetuating weight bias, stigma or fat-shaming
Fat-shaming apps have the potential to continue the cycle of weight-based bullying in our Nation. Add your voice to removing fat-shaming apps: Apps such as, “Fatify,” “Fatbooth,” “Fat You” and others greatly perpetuate fat-shaming and weight bias in today’s society.
Children are the primary users of these types of apps, and the apps are teaching children that the disease of obesity is a funny cosmetic issue, which we know is not true.
A letter by OAC President/CEO Joe Nadglowski and OAC Chairman Ted Kyle, RPh, MBA, appeared in the Sunday New York Times! Read the full letter about why obesity is an important health issue and that fat shaming can actually make it worse: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2014/06/29/opinion/is-obesity-ok.html?_r=0
Approximately 30 percent of girls with excess weight and 24 percent of boys with excess weight report being teased by peers at school. These apps have the potential to further exacerbate weight-based bullying and fat-shaming – especially in children.

TO VACCINATE OR NOT TO VACCINATE

… dumping stuff in the blood can lead to severe long term illness. Mary Toko, Vaccine Researcher.
Proponents argue that vaccination is safe and one of the greatest health developments of the 20th century. They point out that illnesses, including rubella, diphtheria, and whooping cough, which once killed thousands of infants annually are now prevented by vaccination. They contend that anti-vaccination studies are often faulty, biased, and misleading.
Opponents argue that children’s immune systems can deal with most infections naturally, and that the possible side effects of vaccination, including seizures, paralysis, and death, are not worth the risk of safeguarding against non-life threatening illnesses. They contend that numerous studies prove that vaccines may trigger problems like autism, ADHD, and multiple sclerosis. Read more…http://vaccines.procon.org/
Children with ADD, ADHD, Autism or other behavioral disorders should never be given a vaccine… and never one with Thimerosal. It is an unnecessary mercury preservative. Linked to brain damage. Because this Thimerosal is banned from vaccines in Europe and elsewhere. Eileen Dannemann, Director of the National Coalition of Organized Women
Listen to Dr. Meryl Nass and other MDs speak out about the dangers associated with vaccination.
Fats that Heal Fats that Kill
http://www.udoerasmus.com/fatsmain.htm
Hi everyone Daniel Foltz, Ámate Ahora Ohio Chapter Rep, sharing with you a very interesting look into the making of the oils we use to cook with!!!! It really amazed me on how much stuff is put in. Then removed from the oil to take the rancidness out of the oil after its been heated. Interestingly enough the process, like Crisco goes through, to make a solid is why some products can sit on the shelf for 30 years. Never rots, and there’s absolutely no nutritional value at all.
Dr. Udo Erasmus discusses a multitude of topics affecting the oil industry and the consumption of fats and oils and human health. Central to Udo’s book is the obvious misunderstanding that surrounds “Fats that Heal” versus “Fats that Kill”. He exposes the current fad of low-fat, no-fat, and even fake fat diets and the detrimental effects it has on an individuals physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Healing fats are required, together with other nutrients, to prevent and reverse so-called “incurable” degenerative diseases: heart disease, cancer, and Type II diabetes. Healing fats also help reverse arthritis, obesity, PMS, allergies, asthma, skin conditions, fatigue, yeast and fungal infections, addictions, certain types of mental illness, and many other conditions. Educate yourself!!!!! Check out the link. Enjoy.

5 Fats That Don’t Make You Fat

Daniel Foltz, Ámate Ahora Ohio Chapter Rep, shares there are a lot of myths out there regarding nutrition. We are always eager to try the next health fad or new diet in hopes of dropping pounds and feeling great. One of the biggest misconceptions is that fat makes you fat. Our society is obsessed with low-fat and fat-free products thinking they are healthier. This simply is not true. The majority of foods that are labeled low-fat or fat-free are refined processed foods in which the fat has been replaced with more sugar. Not a good option. In fact, many fats are very healthy, essential to our wellbeing, and even promote weight loss. Our body requires fat in order to function properly. Plus, many necessary vitamins, such as A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble, meaning the only way your body can absorb them is in the presence of fat. Check our these yummies. By Jen Broyles
